Day 5
Today is a repeat of the past days. Manageable pain (about a 2), repeated sitz baths, one Percocet early (4:45 AM) this morning, and otherwise simply Ibuprofen. No BM yet today (it is ~1:30 but all else is good).
I hope this is helpful to someone out there who had read the nightmare stories I've read and came away scared to death.
So far, although not a walk in the park, this has not been a terrible experience and I am feeling very positive about the next few weeks when I can start to feel better than normal (after all these years with bleeding, painful hemorrhoids).
I will continue to post over the next few days/weeks with updates as things progress. If you are reading this, I hope your recovery goes well!
What happened?! What was your final recovery like?
ReplyDeleteI'm currently on day 5 of my recovery. I'm looking so forward to being totally pain/fear free. Sometimes I think it's more fear that anything.
DeleteBefore my surgery even my Doctor told me it could be a tough recovery. Then EVERYTHING I read on the internet was BAD BAD BAD. Like you I don't think it's as bad as others before us have reported. Yes there is pain, but not anything I couldn't deal with.

ReplyDeleteThank you for retelling your story. I decided to have the surgery in October, and am preparing. Internet horror stories have me terrified. Doesn't help that I'm a medical librarian with access to all the studies and literature that I keep reading. In addition, I'm dealing with pelvic pain syndrome w/spasm, and am worried that it will become worse from the surgery. Still, these hems are not going away by magic, and I have to move forward. Thanks again.
